We've heard some RVers use something called the 3/3/3 Rule: Travel no more than 3 hours to your next destination, arrive there by 3:00, and spend a minimum of 3 nights. Some also include something about 3 adult beverages being consumed once you've arrived as well, but I think that part is optional.
