It's been a tough time these past six weeks, and it looks like things are not going to improve for a while. February began with me catching a case of the flu - the regular old kind, I'm sure. After the usual 7-10 days I felt much better, but by then the Coronavirus scare was taking it's toll: the Stock Market plunged, taking some of my savings with it before I got things changed around. And then I was doing my regular morning Yoga routine on Feb 23 and I felt a "squish" in my spine as I was doing a twist. It didn't really hurt, but within a few hours I could barely move. It's been almost three weeks now, and I'm just starting to feel normal again. I saw a chiropractor after a few days and I'm still not sure if his adjustments helped or hurt, nor am I sure that I don't have some sort of damage like a herniated disc or a burst sac of fluid. I'm hoping that it's just taking some time for the muscles to feel better after several nights of back spasms that first week.
Anyway, it's now mid-March - Friday the 13th in fact - and even though I'm feeling physically better, the Coronavirus panic is just beginning here in the United States. State parks are closing, along with schools, sporting events and international travel. It's actually a pretty good time to have this RV lifestyle. We've been stocking up on some food so our Walmart visits can be fewer, and we feel pretty safe tucked away in small campgrounds away from "civilization." We're just hoping that the campgrounds stay open. Some have already shut down which seems silly since this seems to me like the best way to keep people isolated. Of course the reality is that no one really knows what to do and most of this is knee-jerk reaction whether it helps or not. At least the folks in charge can look like they did something. Who knows, maybe this will be the way "the swamp finally gets drained" and we can start fresh, and it can start right at the top please. Sometimes it feels like that's what it will take to move this country forward instead of back.
