I'm a planner. Can't help it. It's what I do. I sit and pontificate for hours about what area of the country we should travel to next, where we should camp, what we should see, things we should eat; followed by explanations of why we need to travel there and camp where we should camp, and see what we should see, and eat what we should eat. I also do all of this out loud, because I evidently need to do that as well. Check doesn't listen anyway, so there's that, but the real issue is: we always, always change our plans. No matter how wonderful these plans are, somewhere along our route the wind blows from the south so we turn north, or the road is bumpy and we opt for another route, or we take a wrong turn and get lost, or we just plain change our minds. But, for whatever reason, my carefully-explained-but-not-listened-to plans change. So you'd think I'd stop making them. Well silly you.

So New Hampshire was wonderful. Beautiful mountains, tons of terrific hiking, great weather. We stayed for two weeks at Hancock NF Campground near Lincoln, then a couple of nights at Lafayette Campground in Franconia Notch State Park. We'd have stayed longer at Lafayette, but I93 runs right next door and we couldn't take the noise. Oy. So, we stuck to - yes, the plan - to keep going north and headed into Maine. Well, the altitude dropped, the temperature and humidity rose, and the bugs came out in droves. I mean, I've never seen such bugs. Oy again. We might have been more liable to stay, but just like the Northwest last summer, most campgrounds in the northeast don't have hookups, so facing all this without the prospect of air conditioning did not make us happy. So we took a little scenic Maine drive (heading south) and now we are back in Pennsylvania.

A smallish bear crossed the Franconia Notch New Hampshire bike path right in front of us

We hiked to Lonesome Lake and another AT hut from Lafayette Campground in New Hampshire

We love us a good veggie pizza!

The best maple syrup is at Maple Tree Farm near Concord NH

No. I'm not going to tell you what our plans are from here. Sigh.

Ken and Tammy
Ken and Tammy - so glad you found us online! It really was great being neighbors and maybe the next time we meet at Prairie Creek we'll have less smoke to contend with. Enjoy your travels!!
Prairie Creek
Dawn & Check - great to meet you guys & be neighbors in the middle of no where!  Too bad about the smoke in the Sawtooths. Our shared campsite on Prairie Creek was a good one, and we ended hiking up Prairie Creek to Minor Lake (with all the Creek crossings) on our last day. Beautiful!

I am behind reading your log..am I?  Any way, checking the calendar regularly, I guess I forgot the log.  So here I am, June 12 2020, updating my reading and feeling silly.
Onongava caves
Today I had time on my hands (nurturing a nasty cold since one week) so I traveled through the caves.  Impressive!  Thank you Dawn
