Oru Kayaks

The folding "origami" kayak

Since we started camping, we've talked about getting some kind of boat. Many campgrounds are on some kind of water anyway, and we've both kayaked in the past and loved it. We picked up a little inflatable pontoon boat on Amazon over the summer, but it was bigger and heavier than we thought it would be, only seated one, and while it was fun to row, you had to go backwards. Ugh. So we started shopping for a kayak. We looked online at a lot of the inflatable ones, but we kept getting drawn to the folding kayaks. Because we'd kayaked before, we were a little afraid of being disappointed in the performance of an inflatable. Everything we read said the folding ones were more like a "real" kayak. We were just ready to pull the trigger on a new Oru Bay ST when we saw a Facebook ad for two Orus. A couple had gotten them a few years ago, hardly used them, and had the paddles and backpacks to go with them, all for less than the price of one new one. So we picked them up in Destin and we love them. They are the Bay +, which is an older model than the new ST, but they work fine for us.
